In the meantime, however, we spoke to seven LGBTQ students on what dating on campus is like for them.

Like for all students, being seen as popular is still widely associated with being part of a party scene, and a lot of the young people we spoke to felt alienated by this sentiment.

It seems that for many students who identify as queer, connecting with their LGBTQ centers on campus, interest groups, and online dating apps are the ways they're seeking out and finding others to go on dates with.

In terms of sexuality, the generation younger than me is way more open, and the older generation is still more closeted.

A lot of college guys complain that older men try to pursue them more, which doesn’t seem as predatory to me because I know that a lot of these guys I see at bars are dressed professionally, are definitely businessmen, have probably been in relationships with women, and have repressed these feelings for a while.

As a bisexual person, and as a college woman, you tell people you’re bisexual they’re immediately like, “it’s a phase” but there are also straight girls who want to experiment, and they just toy with your feelings.
